Yusuke

One of my favorite--screw it---my favorite anime hero of all time (sorry, Goku). Sure, the animation was derpy and dated at times; sure, the villains had hilariously bad character designs; sure, the last season shows the DBZ roots of the series to a groan-worthy extent---but Yusuke Yurameshi is the shit. He was and still is one of the most richly flawed heroes in anime.
